For more than half a century, overlay colors have been produced by Fenton. To create this magnificent vase a core of Milk Glass is gathered and shaped by a skilled glassworker called a Blocker. Heart Optic Basket in Ruby with French Opales Fenton's Heart Optic on Ruby Opalescent was an annual classic! This handcrafted Heart Optic Basket was originally made as a Gift Shop Exclusive! Fenton has added it to their First Final Release so that all collectors will have the opportunity to add this last Heart Optic piece to their collection! The unique Heart Optic effect can only be achieved in handblown glassware, and Fenton's skilled glassworkers have mastered the technique. The molten glass is allowed to chill briefly before being reheated, and their artisans must rely upon their eyes and experience to create the perfect result.
Even more skill goes into this Heart Optic on Ruby Basket, as with all baskets, it has the signature handler's mark on each side of the handle. The handler's mark is distinctive and identifies the artisan who created the basket. Some collectors enjoy adding their favorite basket handler's creations to their collection.
The skilled basket handler has about 25 seconds within which he must accomplish the following: attach a glowing ribbon of molten glass to one side of the basket; deftly twist the rapidly cooling glass; stick it to the other side; impress the base of each side of the handle with his handler's mark, and finally, fashion the handle into a graceful arch. FENTON CORAL FLORAL ON LOTUS MIST BASKET This Coral Floral on Lotus Mist Burmese Basket 2735 QU was offered by Fenton during the First Final Release in 2011. This release was after they announced they would cease production and they were using blanks that were left at the factory and creating pieces to clean out old stock. This Lotus Mist Burmese, or Green Burmese, Basket stands 8 1/4" tall featuring a coral shaded flower and leaves. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks and the bottom is signed by the talented artist who painted it! The bottom also has original signatures by George & Nancy Fenton. Original in that they were signed by the Fenton's with the electric pen they use at Fenton Family signing events, this one done at my own shop in October of 2011! It is hard to see the signatures as it is etched on this satin finish but turn it to the light and you'll find them! What a beautiful addition to your Fenton collection!

Fenton Floral n Flight Orange Slice Fairy Lig Originally designed by Michelle Kibbe for Fenton's 2011 Spring Collection more were found when cleaning out inventory! This Floral n Flight Orange Slice Fairy Light stands approximately 5 inches tall and is handcrafted in Fenton's new Orange Slice color. Added to Fenton's color wheel in 2010 the shade goes from gold to orange at times. The cover for the Fairy Light has a diamond optic design which adds to the glimmer when lit. You will notice one change made from the original, the base of the light is in crystal now instead of orange slice! If you own the original you'll want this one also!!
